Tammy Markley: 3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor Sauk City
My son started at Red Dragon in 2006 and I enjoyed watching him learn his karate. Two friends who did karate thought I should try it and so last summer, at the age of 40, I decided to take on a new challenge. And what a challenge it has been! I am not the athletic type, so I feel really great about being able to do something and do it well. Karate has helped me become more focused and balanced, physically as well as mentally. I love knowing that if I had to defend myself or my family, I could do it because karate has given me the confidence I need-- it is really empowering.
I’m a 4th grade teacher and have been teaching since 1992 here in Sauk Prairie. Teaching is a big part of who I am; so, in addition to taking adult karate classes, I have been an assistant instructor in the kids’ and little ninjas classes since April, 2010. Watching them grow, learn and take pride in what they do is very rewarding. I am currently on my green with brown stripe belt and am really looking forward to earning my black belt, which is something I never thought I would do.
